At Usagi's house, Usagi sleeps fitfully. Her heart is pounding... she is dreaming that she is running away from something, but Tuxedo Kamen saves her. He waves his rose at the monster that is chasing her, and it disappears. He then tells her that he will always be near her.

Usagi wakes up to hear Shingo, her brother, screaming because Luna is on his bed. He throws a pillow at the cat, but misses. Usagi walks into the room just in time to be hit in the face with the pillow. Shingo cringes and shudders, afraid of the cat, and Usagi picks Luna up and waves her near her brother. Shingo is saved from his terror when Ikuko calls that breakfast is ready, and Usagi darts down the stairs.

At breakfast, Ikuko asks why they were yelling. Kenji, Usagi's father, asks about the cat, and Usagi says that her name is Luna. Usagi tells Shingo that the cat likes him, because she was sleeping on his bed. Shingo replies that the cat came in without his permission! Usagi tells her parents that she wants to keep Luna, but Shingo argues with her. Kenji and Ikuko say that it's ok, and that the two siblings can figure it on their own.

As Usagi walks to school, she asks Luna why she went into Shingo's room in the first place. Luna says that it was an accident because she was so tired, since she's been working hard to find the Moon Princess. Usagi thinks of "Moon Pudding," much to Luna's chagrin. She tells the cat to try to get on Shingo's good side, then runs off to school.

Luna walks down the street, past a store called "Pet Shop Rope." She sees a cute kitten in the window, and decides that she must act like the kitten in order to get Shingo to like her.

In the Dark Kingdom's lair, Queen Beryl asks Jadeite if he has a new plan to steal energy. He tells her that the youma Iguara is setting it up. Queen Beryl says, "Humans have many desires. Just a bit of catalyst can turn that desire into a very strong energy. In other words, the energy flows freely." They are collecting the energy for their leader, Queen Metallia. Queen Beryl then tells Jadeite to proceed carefully.

At Juuban Junior High School, Usagi talks to Naru about how Shingo does not like cats. She tells her friend that when he was a baby, a cat bit the tip of his nose, and the fear from it still hasn't disappeared. Umino suddenly appears out of nowhere and says, "At least it was just a cat. I was bitten by an alligator. My mom probably left the latch open and set it next to me." Usagi asks, "Umino, you don't mean a handbag made out of alligator skin, do you?" He says, "They call it that, too!"

As Shingo is leaving school, Luna jumps off of a wall and lands on his shoulder. She licks his face, but this terrifies him and she jumps to the ground. Shingo falls over, visibly shaken. Mika Kayama, a friend from his class, comes up and shakes his shoulder, asking him what that was all about. He tells her that he doesn't like cats, and blushes.

Mika and Shingo walk together, and he says that a different kind of pet would be ok. She tells him about a pet that would be perfect for him at a new pet shop that just opened, Pet Shop Perfume. The two arrive at Pet Shop Perfume. Everything is sparkling and new, and it smells wonderful. Mika tells him that the scent comes from the pets in the store. A woman suddenly appears and tells Shingo that the animals in the store are called chanela, and they smell like perfume. Each animal has a different scent.

Shingo looks into one of the chanela's cages, and its eyes begin to glow. Shingo is put into a trance-like state, and buys the chanela in the cage. Mika is also buying a chanela. The proprietor of the store tells them to bring the money whenever they can.

Mika and Shingo walk home in a trance, holding their chanela. A stray puppy is rummaging in the trash and sees them walk by, then begins to follow them, whimpering. They don't pay any attention to him. Mika says that as long as she has her chanela, she doesn't need anything else.

Meanwhile, Jadeite can be seen laughing and collecting energy in a swirling orb.

At Usagi's house, Usagi sits on her bed and talks to Luna about the situation with Shingo. Luna says that she doesn't have to be a house cat, but Usagi tells her not to give up so easily! She says, "You're always lecturing me - you need to set a good example!" Shingo suddenly walks into Usagi's room, holding his chanela. Luna meows sweetly and walks up to him, but he kicks her across the room! He tells Usagi to hurry up and get rid of the cat, which makes Usagi cry. Shingo covers his ears and leaves the room. Luna tells Usagi that she's ok, and Usagi apologizes to Luna for what Shingo did.

Ikuko calls to Usagi that tea is ready. Usagi walks downstairs and sits with her family. Shingo is holding his chanela, and tells them that it doesn't eat anything. Kenji says that that's good, moneywise. He says they can keep both the chanela and Luna.

Shingo walks to his room, knocks everything off his desk, and puts the chanela down. He sits in front of his new pet and tells it that it is cute. It then begins to glow.

The next morning, Usagi knocks on Shingo's door to tell him that it's time for school. He says that he isn't going, then tells the chanela that they'll be together forever. Usagi peaks into the door and sees her brother staring at the chanela, which is glowing.

[ Commercial Break ]

At Juuban Junior High School, most of Usagi's classmates have chanela. Usagi talks to Naru about them. Haruna-sensei walks into the room, and everyone suddenly hides their chanela. Haruna-sensei begins class, but the students are unable to keep from holding their chanela. They begin taking them out of their desks, although it is against the rules to have them at school. Haruna-sensei tries to confiscate them, but the students bcome violent and leave school with their chanela.

Later, Usagi and Naru talk about how strange the chanela are. Usagi talks about Shingo's odd behavior since he got his chanela. Naru tells her that the pets are sold at Pet Shop Perfume, and Usagi asks if she wants to go. Naru can't go because she has cram school, so Usagi goes alone. Usagi says, "It's hard having such a dumb brother" and Naru tells her that she is a good sister.

At Pet Shop Perfume, there is a huge crowd. Usagi stands outside, worried that she might become like Shingo. Suddenly, Mamoru appears behind her and asks her if she's buying a chanela. He says that perfume doesn't suit her, but she tells him to shut up. She walks into the building.

Inside the store, a woman walks up to Usagi. Usagi begins to look around at all the chanela, thinking that she should have come in with Naru, and that the chanela are very cute. Luna suddenly appears and says that she has been checking out the store because something didn't seem right. Usagi looks at the chanela, and Luna warns her not to look into its eyes. The chanela's eyes begin to glow and it's too late; Usagi is already in a trance. She picks up the rabbit-like creature, and the proprietor tells her, "It's no surprise that a pretty customer like you would pick out the cutest chanela in the store."

Usagi walks home, cuddling her chanela. Luna says that she thinks it should be returned, but Usagi says, "If you get any closer, I'll kick you. I don't like you." Luna says, "It's ok, it's not your fault." A little girl falls off her tricycle onto the sidewalk, but Usagi just keeps walking, paying no attention to her. Luna licks the girl's face until she feels better.

Luna jumps on Usagi's head and snatches the chanela away from her, hiding it in the bushes. Usagi is apologetic and confused, but the two run home, worried about Shingo. Usagi runs into Shingo's room and tells him to hand over his chanela, but he refuses. She tries to wrestle it away from him, but can't. She calls him an idiot and slaps him hard across the face, but then apologizes. He pushes her away and runs out of the room. Luna tells Usagi that there's no time to be depressed; they've got to follow Shingo to the pet store! Usagi is afraid that she'll fall into another trance if the chanela looks at her again, but Luna assures her and says that she's got a more important mission.

Usagi transforms into Sailor Moon and goes to Pet Shop Perfume. Inside the pet store, all of the chanela owners stand in a trance. The woman in the store frees all of the chanela and tells the people that they are to spread the chanela. From the back of the store, Sailor Moon's voice emerges, saying, "Frill-necked lizards, Mexican salamanders, and human-faced fish are all mad. They are mad, saying that they are not toys!"

The woman in the store suddenly transforms into the lizard-like youma Iguara. All of the chanela owners from the store are now under her spell, and have become blue and scaly, with the same lizard-like green eyes. They are hypnotized, and march toward Sailor Moon like zombies. She runs away, and sees that Shingo is one of the monsters. She knocks over a pile of boxes to buy herself time from the monsters, and thinks to herself, "It's usually at times like this that Tuxedo Kamen comes to save me." Luna tells her to stop depending on others.

The monsters continue coming after Sailor Moon, and Luna tells her to use "Moon Tiara Action." She won't do it, however, because Shingo is in the crowd. Luna tells her to use "Moon Tiara Stardust" instead, which she does. The tiara floats over the monsters, lightly dusting them all with sparkling gold powder. They are all transformed into their normal selves, and are no longer entranced. They drop the chanela.

Iguara suddenly runs towards Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon runs into the parking lot, but Iguara bursts through the door, following her. Iguara then uses her tail to lift Sailor Moon in the air by her neck, choking her. Luna tells Usagi that there is a weak spot at the base of Iguara's tail, and she uses "Moon Tiara Action" to hit the spot with her tiara. Iguara is destroying, becoming a pile of dust. Inside the store, the chanela all turn to dust as well.

Sailor Moon is relieved that everything is over. Shingo runs out into the parking lot yelling, "Sailor V! Can I have an autograph? I'm a huge fan!" Sailor Moon hides behind a car and says, "I'm Sailor Moon!" Shingo says, "Well, you're cute, so whatever! Anyway, can I have your autograph?"

Sailor Moon says, "Before that, I have to ask you to do something, Shingo." He asks how she knows his name, and she says that she knows anything. She continues, "Shingo, I want you to be nice to a cat near you named Luna. That black cat is certain to lead you to happiness." He agrees, and Sailor Moon winks.

The next morning at breakfast, Shingo holds Luna at the table, petting her. He asks her if she'd like some ham, and she meows. Kenji is glad to see that they're getting along, and Ikuko says, "Starting today, we're a family of five!" Usagi sighs.
