BISHOUJO SENSHI SAILOR MOON STARS PHAGE


These phage (sometimes called 'monsters of the day') appear in almost every episode of Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Stars. They are minions of the Animamates, and they fight against the senshi, though they are defeated easily. When a human is targeted by one of the animamates, his or her starseed is removed. If that starseed turns out to be a "blank," it quickly loses its light. That person then transforms into a phage. The phages are parodies of the target's occupation or hobby, and usually only distract the senshi while the animamates escape. "Phage" is pronounced "Faji" and is a parasitic virus in bacteria. It comes from a Greek word meaning "to eat."
