SAILOR MOON SUPERS MOVIE


click for larger version Orangeat is one of the cuckoo faeries from the Sailor Moon SuperS movie who serves Queen Badiane by collecting children. He first appears steering a floating gondola full of children with his flute towards Marzipannu Castle. Two other faeries, Poupelin and Banane, arrive at the castle at the same time. The Sailor Senshi also float toward Marzipannu Castle on a floating gondola, but Banane and Orangeat attack them with cannon balls. They arrive unharmed, but the faeries attack with BonBon Babies. Orangeat controls pink BonBon Babies. During the course of the attack, click for larger version Sailor Uranus destroys Orangeat's flute with her Space Sword Blaster attack, causing the faerie to turn into a pink cuckoo bird that flies away. Orangeat's seiyuu is Kazuya Nakai. He appears only in the Sailor Moon SuperS movie. In the Materials Collection, Naoko Takeuchi says that Orangeat is a male transvestite with broken teeth, and the image is of oranges. His outfit has oranges attached to it. The Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon SuperS Movie Memorial Album calls Orangeat a "kakko no yosei," meaning "cuckoo faerie."



NAME ORIGIN


According to the Materials Collection, the romanization of Orangeat's name is literally "Oranja." is what we see in the Materials Collection. click for larger version "Oranja" is the Japanese approximation of the French word "Orangeat," which is pronounced "O-ran-zha." An Orangeat is a type of candied orange peel made by drying the oranges, cooking them, and then coating them in sugar. It is used quite often in German cooking, particularly for holidays such as Christmas.
