EPISODE 015 - PETASOS:


click for larger version Petasos was a female youma under the control of Nephrite in episode 015 (Usagi aseru! Rei-chan hatsu date). Her mission was to gather the energy of park caretaker Kunitachi once he reached his peak energy. Nephrite put his evil crest on Kunitachi's gardening hat, thereby hastening the man's approach towards his maximum energy potential. Once Kunitachi reached his peak energy, Petasos emerged from the hat and drained him of his energy. Petasos quickly ordered all of the animals in the park to kill all of the humans in the park. Ami and Usagi quickly transform into Sailor Mercury and Sailor Moon. Petasos then used her "Hand Flower" attack: her hand turned into a giant flower which shot a net and ensnared Sailor Moon. Next, she used her "Petasos rope" attack to transform her hair into vines which wrapped themselves around Sailor Mercury. Suddenly, Sailor Mars appeared and used her Fire Soul attack to free Sailor Mercury and Sailor Moon. Just as Petasos moved to attack all three girls, Tuxedo Kamen appeared and threw a rose at her to stop her. Sailor Moon used the opportunity to use her Moon Tiara Action attack and destroy Petasos.

Petasos had purple skin, dark green hair, and pointed ears. Her eyebrows were so long that they stretched far beyond her head. Her feet were like tree roots, and she had flower petals growing from her wrists and ankles. She wore tight lime green pants with an orange top. Her seiyuu was Noriko Uemura.

Petasos gets her name from a type of hat called a "petasos." It is a wide-brimmed, floppy hat which was often worn by gardeners and farmers in ancient Greece. This is a clear reference to the hat in which the youma was planted.
