click for larger version Esmeraude is a member of the Black Moon Clan who takes the place of Rubeus upon his death. She first appears in episode 73. She is a proud, vain woman, with issues of jealousy and gluttony. She has a high-pitched, annoying laugh, though she is very beautiful. She is in love with Prince Demand, and his obsession with Sailor Moon causes her to become insanely jealous of the Sailor Soldier. She tries to make sure that Prince Demand does not capture Sailor Moon at any cost, and even helps Sailor Moon escape from him. Esmeraude's mission is to set up her Dark Henge in specific points in Tokyo, which would grow when fed energy and eventually create a Dark Gate to allow the Black Moon Clan to destroy the world. She was stopped by the Senshi. Esmeraude eventually dies when Wiseman offers her more power. She accepts, hoping that it will help her gain Prince Demand's affections. She places a special crown upon her head, which she believes will make her the queen of the Black Moon. Instead, she is transformed into a dragon, and as a dragon she attacks the palace in Crystal Tokyo. The Sailor Senshi arrive and kill the dragon, and her final thoughts are of Prince Demand. Esmeraude's seiyuu is Mami Koyama.



MANGA


click for larger version Esmeraude is a member of the Black Moon Clan who first appears in act 14, volume 04. She appears with Rubeus, Sapher, and Prince Demand, celebrating their upcoming victory. Although she appears early, she is not named until act 17. She is in love with Prince Demand. In act 18, she asks if she can bring Neo-Queen Serenity to him, but becomes embarrassed when he only glares at her. Rubeus questions her ability to succeed, and she calls upon Chiral and Achiral to assist her in battling the senshi. Chiral and Achiral are killed, however, and Esmeraude leaves them. She asks for a second chance from Prince Demand, and is given the mission "Code EX, Operation Re-lax." She removes her gloves to reveal that she has the power of Death Hands (long, shadowy, inhuman hands). She targets ChibiUsa, who has returned to Crystal Tokyo alone. Using her Death Hands, she begins strangling ChibiUsa, with her evil Black Crystal floating next to her. Sailor Moon, Sailor Venus, and Sailor Tuxedo Kamen arrive on the scene, and Sailor Venus uses her Venus Love-Me Chain to cause Esmeraude to drop ChibiUsa and the evil Black Crystal. The Black Crystal explodes, causing the senshi to duck for cover. Sailor Moon tries to use Moon Princess Halation on Esmeraude, but fails. Esmeraude then begins strangling Sailor Moon, Sailor Venus, and Tuxedo Kamen with her Death Hands. King Endymion's spirit appears behind Tuxedo Kamen and says he'll help him, and Tuxedo Kamen uses Tuxedo La Smoking Bomber to destroy Esmeraude.
