click for larger version Cooan appears first in episode 60. She is the youngest of the four Ayakashi Sisters. She and her sisters came from the future in Rubeus's UFO to find the 'Rabbit' - ChibiUsa. She attacks Crystal Points in the Tokyo of the past, which is our present time. She is matched with Sailor Mars of the Sailor Senshi. In episod 70, Cooan poses as a cosmetics saleswoman and goes to the Hikawa Jinj Shrine in order to make attempt at capturing ChibiUsa. Before she was able to succeed in this task, however, Tuxedo Kamen interferes with her scheme. Sailor Mars uses her "Burning Mandala" attack on Sailor Mars. Rubeus then arrives on the scene. Cooan is in love with Rubeus, and believes that he has become to help her because he has similar feelings for her. Unfortunately, Cooan's love is unrequited, and he simply gives her a bomb with which to destroy ChibiUsa and the Sailor Senshi. The senshi manage to destroy the bomb and confront her, and she fights fiercely against the senshi. Just as Sailor Jupiter is going to attack Cooan, Sailor Mars jumps between the opponents and protects the villain, saying that she believes that Cooan can love and they can, perhaps, form a friendship. Sailor Moon then heals Cooan, so she becomes a normal woman. Cooan's attack is called "Dark Fire." She is closest with her older sister Berthier, who is closest in age to Cooan. Cooan's seiyuu is Wakana Yamazaki.

click for larger version Cooan appears in act 14, volume 04, saying that she feels the spirit of someone who is like her, and is in tune with the fire. She believes that this person whose spirit she feels could be persuaded to join the Black Moon Clan, so Rubeus gives her the mission "Code 001: Operation Re-Cruit" to recruit humans who have the potential to be members of the Black Moon Clan. She poses as Cooan Kurozuki, a student at Rei Hino's high school, T*A Girls' Academy. She becomes the leader of the Black Moon, a club that investigates supernatural activities. There is another similar club, of which Kotono Sarashina is the leader. Cooan introduces herself to Kotono, and Kotono muses that Cooan seems to have very cold eyes and hands. Cooan then leaves, and Rei, Kotono, and the supernatural club then see a strange black saucer-shaped UFO fly away. That night, Rei has a dream of Cooan using her power on a child to burn its body. Later, at the T*A Girls' Academy school festival, Cooan sets up a fortune-telling booth, telling girls how and when they will die. Rei appears, and Cooan tells her that everyone must die, but if one joins the Black Moon, her death will be better. Rei leaves, refusing to have her fortune told. She then comes across strange nuns with black moons on their foreheads. Suddenly, one of the nuns falls to the ground, her body burning, and Rei realizes that the enemy is at hand. She transforms into Sailor Mars, and defeats the droids who had been disguised as nuns. Cooan then reveals who she truly is, and attacks Sailor Mars with her "Dark Fire" attack. Sailor Moon appears and attempts to use her "Moon Frisbee" attack on Cooan, but Cooan knocks her tiara back. Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Kamen then create a new rod to use Moon Princess Halation on Cooan, destroying her.
