ANIME BIO


Kou Seiya is the famous lead singer of the Japanese pop group the Three Lights. In the second half of the Stars season, they enroll in Usagi's school in order to continue their education. Usagi meets him shortly after Mamoru, her boyfriend, goes to America to study (only to be killed by Galaxia for his Starseed). She is still upset that Mamoru has gone to America, and that he is not returning her letters. Seiya and Usagi develop a close relationship, and go on dates, but the relationship never blossoms as Mamoru's starseed is returned, and his relationship with Usagi is restored. We later learn that Seiya is actually Sailor Star Fighter, a woman from the planet of Kinmoku, who has come to Earth disguised as a male pop idol in search of Princess Kakyuu (to whom the Starlights are guardians). Princess Kakyuu is killed, but eventually, Usagi defeats Galaxia, and Princess Kakyuu's starseed is returned. The Starlights and Princess Kakyuu then return to their home planet of Kinmoku.

It should be noted that Seiya's PERSONAL name is actually Kou, although he goes by his surname of Seiya. The three Starlights all share the same personal name of Kou.

Star Serious Laser!
This is the attack used by Sailor Star Fighter. There are three different versions of this same attack. In the first, she raises her arm in the air and a circle of stars appears. Beams of light gather in her hands, and she throws her hand in front of her, sending the laser beam at the target. In the second, she raises her star item and the stars gather in it from the circle. She throws her arm out in frong of her and the beam of light is projected at the target. In the third version, she holds up her star item and throws her hand out in front of her, at which point the beam of light is projected at the target. Fighter Star Power, Make Up!
This is the phrase that Kou Seiya yells to transform into Sailor Star Fighter. It is this phrase that transforms him into his true female form, and into her senshi form. The transformation sequence first appears in episode 176, and requires use of the Sailor Change Star (the microphone headset and brooch). 		view full size version view full size version view full size version

Sailor Star Yell
This is the weapon that the three Starlights use in all of their attacks. It seems that the energy of the attacks comes from the Star Yell itself. It looks like a star with a red jewel in the middle and five smaller colored jewels near the five points of the star. It has white wings on either side of the top point. It never appeared in the manga, only the anime. It was named in both the Deluxe Sailor Stars anime art book and on the packaging of Bandai's toy version as "Sailor Star Yell," but sometimes the name is shortened to simply "Star Yell." The item appears first in episode 173.
Sailor Change Star
This is the name for both the henshin microphone and the brooch, collectively. The name was given to the items by Bandai, on the label of the toy package. This set of items is used to transform, and first appears in episode 176.
