MOTOKI FURUHATA:

ANIME

Motoki Furuhata is a college student who works at Game Center Crown. He is close friends with Mamoru, with whom he attends school at KO University. Motoki's sister is Unazuki Furuhata, and his girlfriend (later, fiance) is Reika Nishimura. He is very friendly and easy-going, and he gets along well with everyone. Usagi and Makoto both had crushes on him, but in episode 029, he told Mamoru that while he thinks they are both cute, they are still in middle school so he thinks of them as "kid sisters." Motoki's seiyuu was Hiroyuki Satou.

Motoki made his first appearance in episode 002, when he introduced Usagi to the new Sailor V arcade game. During the first season, Usagi had a crush on Motoki for quite some time, and even thought that he might be Tuxedo Kamen. Makoto also developed a crush on him, but he revealed in episode 029 that he had a girlfriend, Reika Nishimura. In episode 029, Reika was attacked because she was a Nijizuishou carrier. Motoki attempted to protect her, and directly faced off with Zoisite before being knocked unconcious. Because he was unconscious, he did not see Reika transform into a youma and subsequently be healed by the Sailor Senshi. Later in the episode, Reika left in order to study abroad in Africa, but she promised to write him every day. When she returned from Africa, she was given another opportunity to work abroad, but this time for ten years. She left again, and he told her that he would support her no matter what she chose to do. He decided to always wait on her.

MANGA

Motoki Furuhata appears first in Act 01, Volume 01 of the manga, and he also appears in the Sailor V manga. He is a college student, and he holds part-time jobs at the Crown Game Center and the Crown Fruit Parlor. He is good-looking and very likable. Usagi, Makoto, and Ami have crushes on him in the beginning of the manga. Usagi calls him "onii-chan" until she finds out his name in Act 05. His college friends call him "Furu-chan," and he tells the senshi to call him that. In Act 05, he is possessed by Zoisite and begins attacking Makoto. Both of them are drained of their energy until Usagi comes to the rescue, disguised as Motoki, confusing the youma that is taking their energy. Later, when Mamoru has been brainwashed by Queen Beryl, he brainwashes Motoki into believing that Mamoru is his friend Endou. Motoki and Mamoru follow Makoto to the basement of the Crown Game Center, where the senshi have their final battle with Queen Beryl. Motoki recognizes the senshi and discovers their true identities, but promises no to tell anyone, and agrees to help them if they need it. Motoki has a younger sister named Unazuki, who is a waitress at the Crown Fruit Parlor. He also has a friend named Reika, and his relationship with her gradually grows throughout the manga.

PRETTY GUARDIAN SAILOR MOON

In Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, Motoki Furuhata is played by Masaya Kikwada. He is first appears in Act 02, but his name is not given until Usagi asks in Act 07. Usagi thinks that he might be Tuxedo Kamen, and they go to an amusement park with Rei, Makoto, Mamoru, and Motoki's turtle-loving friend Takai. At the park, they get separated in a maze, and it is revealed that Motoki is claustrophobic. Motoki has a pet turtle, Kamekichi. He enjoys staring at his turtle, and even occasionally dressing up as a turtle. He is always looking for a lady friend for Kamekichi. He knows Mamoru through school, and he also knows Hina, Mamoru's fiancee. Makoto has to make a muffler for class and give it to someone, so she chooses to give it to Motoki as a Valentine's Day present. From then on, he develops a crush on Makoto, but she does not feel the same way. Later on, the two develop a relationship together.
