click for larger version Mikan Shiratori is a young Japanese idol who first appears in episode 007 (Usagi hansei! Star no michiha kibishii). She is first seen a poster ad in the window of a pharmacy when Usagi is running to school. She can be seen practicing rhythmic gymnastics in the ad, promoting a product called Genkirin by a company called Kekkou Medicines. The poster says, "Mikan's recommendation for anyone tired!" Later, Umino comes to school with the same poster, which he says he bought on the internet. Umino fnds some data about Mikan on his computer, which he gives to Usagi and Naru. He tells them that Mikan is from Juuban Junior High, that she is 17 years old, that she has already been in eight commercials, and that her monthly income is 2,000,000 yen. Another classmate mentions that Mikan was actually scouted while simply walking in town. We first actually see the star in person while signing autographs outside of the TV Ashita building. A poster on the building advertises a "new spring show" on channel 9 called "Jan, Ken, Pon" ("Rock, Paper, Scissors"). Jadeite sees the autograph signing, and decides that he can use the energy of all the fans. Later, while Mikan is in her apartment showering, the youma Derella attacks her and incapacitates her using an icy blue substance which knocks her unconcious. The youma touches her, and instantly assumes her likeness. Derella, who now looks exactly like Mikan Shiratori hosts a talent search with Jadeite called Cinderella Caravan, which is actually a plot to steal energy from the numerous contestants. Eventually, Sailor Moon destroyes Derella with her Moon Tiara Action attack, so Mikan awakens in her apartment not knowing what happened.

Mikan Shiratori's next appearance is in episode 048. Naru, Ami, Rei, Makoto, and Minako are asked to audition for the role of Mikan's little sister in a new television drama. They all go to the TV Ashita station, but are attacked by An and Al's cardian Minotauron. An is badly in need of energy, so she goes to find some. She just happens to come upon the dressing room of Mikan (Dressing Room No. 3), goes in, and drains the young idol's energy. In the end, Minako explains that the television drama was cancelled because Mikan collapsed from exhaustion.
