Manami

Manami was a baby who appeared in episode 053. He was being cared for at Juuban Municipal Nursery School. Unfortunately, the aliens Ail and An had decided to steal "young" and "fresh" energy from babies. They selected the Cardian Amaderasu to steal energy for them, and immediately sent her to attack Juuban Municipal Nursery School one afternoon when Manami's mother was picking him up. All of the babies, teachers, and parents had their energy stolen in the attack. Fortunately, Manami's mother was holding him and was therefore able to protect him to some degree. Usagi, Mamoru, and Ami witnessed the attack and called an ambulance. The victims were rushed to Azabu General Hospital for treatment.

Manami's mother was hospitalized, but he was unharmed. Because his father was away on business and he had no nearby relatives, there was no one to care for him while his mother was incapacitated. Mamoru volunteered to take him, although Ami warned him that it would be hard work. Usagi also volunteered to help Mamoru. The hospital sent a bag with Mamoru containing basic necessities for the child. At Mamoru's apartment, the pair struggled to care for the child. They were baffled when he cried, resulting in a very funny attempt by Usagi at preparing a bottle. Finally, the discovered that his diaper was wet. The entire time, they thought that the baby was a girl due to the feminine name of "Manami." They were shocked to find out that he was a boy when they changed his diaper! After the diaper change, Usagi and Mamoru got into an argument about child-rearing, causing her to storm out of the apartment.

They soon made up, however, and were back to working together to care for the baby. When they went shopping for additional supplies (Usagi bought too much of everything!), Natsumi saw them together and became jealous. She invited herself to Mamoru's apartment to help out, but Manami did not like her; he found her to be creepy. He ultimately peed on her TWICE while she was attempting to change his diaper, causing her to leave. Usagi was soon back on the scene, although she became a little jealous because of Natsumi's presence. While she discussed it with Mamoru, Manami took a few steps forwards. They were overjoyed!! Usagi was soon called away to battle with Amaderasu at Nakayoshi Koyoshi Nursery School. They managed to defeat the Cardian so that no more babies were in danger. Soon afterwards, Manami's mother was released from the hospital and he was placed back in her care. Manami's seiyuu was Mayumi Nomura.

Manami's Mother

Manami's mother appeared in episode 053 along with her son. She was first seen picking up her baby at the Juuban Municipal Nursery School, sweetly talking with a teacher, Ami, and Usagi about him. When the school was subsequently attacked by Amaderasu, her energy was stolen and she was hospitalized at Azabu General Hospital. Because she was holding Manami during the attack, she was able to protect him and prevent him from being harmed. While she remained in the hospital, Mamoru and Usagi cared for her child. She was released one day early, and met Mamoru and Usagi at the hospital to get her son back. She thanked them for their help and left with Manami. She was not seen in the anime again. Her seiyuu was Miyoko Aoba.
