ALTAIR:

click for larger version Altair is a man who appears in ChibiUsa's Picture Diary in volume 10 of the manga, "Tale of the Warning on the Countdown to Tanabata." According to the legend of the Tanabata Festival, a festival that takes place on the seventh day of the seventh month of each year, a young weaver girl named Vega did nothing but weave all day long, and God was unable to simply stand by and watch this. So he married her to a Cowherd from the other side of the Milky Way, Altair. However, when the two were married, they neglected theiir work and did nothing but play. This angered God, and He pulled them apart, only allowing them to see each other once a year, on 7 July - but only if it didn't rain on that day. On Midnight on the night of 7 July, ChibiUsa was awakened by the click a Sailor Moon watch that was given to her for her birthday made when it was opened. She was struck by a light from the watch, and told to go to Ichinohashi Park. Hypnotized, ChibiUsa wandered towards the park, but Diana bit her, causing her to snap out of her trance. Fully aware that the watch was the cause of the girl's hypnosis, the two go to the park. There, hundreds of girls who had the same watches had gathered. Before them sat a shrouded lady, preaching that a new era must begin of women living alone. She said that on their own, they can get better jobs, and that they didn't need men - all of the obviously brainwashed girls cheered. ChibiUsa quickly transformed into Sailor ChibiMoon and denounced the woman, saying that women can't survive alone. The shrouded lady stood and removed her cloak, revealing that she was Sailor Moon! She said that since she is a friend of all girls, and that she has said that they don't need men, she can't be wrong. But ChibiUsa sees right through this, saying, "You're lying! Sailor Moon doesn't have such fat legs!" The insulted fake Sailor Moon slumped to the ground, insulted, and her sailor suit turned to a kimono. She wept at ChibiMoon's words, and confessed that she is really the incarnation of Vega. She cried that she just sits alone and weaves every day, watching TV and eating, so she's gained a lot of weight. She wiped off her make-up to reveal a plain face, and said that she had always longed for a bright face like Sailor Moon. She said that her husband, Altair, once saw her without make-up, and since then, he has been cold to her. She is sure that he is the one who makes it rain every year on the 7th, so that he won't have to see her ugly face. Two women behind her agree, saying that men only like pretty girls, that Altair is probably spending his time looking for one, and that women always lose in long-distance relationships. Diana yells at the women and identifies them as Zeta and Epsilon, the weaver stars close to the star Vega. They encouraged Vega to continue eating and weaving while they plotted to take the children of Earth's energy with their evil Sailor Moon watches. Sailor ChibiMoon destroyes them with Pink Sugar Heart Attack, and all of the watches shatter. The light of the moon beams down, and suddenly, a man appears - it is Altair. He says, "Vega! This is the three thousandth year of our marriage, right? Believe me, I didn't want you to hate me." Vega replies, "You could have called. I have an answering machine for when I'm busy. Were you working to save up money!? You weren't just playing around, were you!?" And Altair says, "No... You see... I love you. Young, pretty girls with slender legs are good, but... My wife is the best woman!" The quarrel between the two is over, and the day of the Tanabata Festival's weather was described as "cloudy, later sunny." Altair is a star in the constellation Aquila, with a luminosity of 9. You can see his star with Vega's high in the sky on clear summer nights. The two are 16 light years apart.
