While the other senshi used pens, wands, or other devices to transform, Usagi and Chibi-Usa relied primarily on brooches to transform into Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon.

ANIME

Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon used several different transformation brooches throughout the anime. Each brooch came with a new transformation phrase and sequence. Each successive transformation brooch and sequence made the senshi stronger and allowed them to use different attacks. In their civilian forms, the girls wore their brooches on their school uniforms, in the middle of the bow on the front. The following brooches were used in the anime:

	001	Transformation Brooch Usagi received her first transformation brooch in episode 001. After she took Luna home, the cat began speaking to her for the first time, leaving her very surprised! Luna explained to Usagi that she was Sailor Moon. She then flipped in the air to produce the transformation brooch. Usagi took the brooch, and Luna told her to say "Moon Prism Power, Make Up!" She did so and immediately transformed into Sailor Moon. From that point on, Usagi used this phrase to transform. This transformation brooch ultimately shattered in episode 051, when the Cardian Reci attacked Sailor Moon.
	051	Crystal Star The Crystal Star first appeared in episode 051. When the Cardian Reci attacked Sailor Moon, her original transformation brooch shattered, causing her to detransform. Queen Serenity appeared before her in spirit form and gave her the Crystal Star, which held the Ginzuishou inside of it. Sailor Moon was able to transform with this brooch using the phrase "Moon Crystal Power, Make Up!"
	091	Cosmic Heart Compact The brooch given to Usagi in episode 091. It allowed her to transform into Sailor Moon with the phrase "Moon Cosmic Power, Make Up!"
	103	Prism Heart Compact The brooch that ChibiUsa uses to transform into Sailor ChibiMoon, using "Moon Prism Power, Make Up!" It is her first compact, and it first appears in episode 103. She brings the brooch back with her from Crystal Tokyo.
	130	ChibiMoon Compact The brooch that ChibiUsa uses in order to transform into Super Sailor ChibiMoon with "Moon Crisis, Make Up!" It is her second compact, and appears first in episode 130. It is very similar to Usagi's, except that the center jewel is a heart instead of a circle, and the outer ribbon design patter is slightly different. Like Usagi's compact, it was received from Pegasus.
	130	Crisis Moon Compact The brooch given to Usagi by Pegasus in episode 130. It allowed her to transform into Super Sailor Moon with the phrase "Moon Crisis, Make Up!"
	168	Eternal Moon Article The brooch given to Usagi in episode 168. It was created when the senshi combined their powers. It allowed Usagi to transform into Eternal Sailor Moon with the phrase "Moon Eternal, Make Up!"

MANGA

	Act 01	Transformation Brooch The transformation brooch was given to Usagi Tsukino by Luna in Act 01. With it, she can transform into Sailor Moon using "Moon Prism Power, Make Up!"
	Act 13	Crystal Star The brooch given to Usagi in Act 13 which allows her to transform into Sailor Moon with "Moon Crystal Power, Make Up!"
	Act 24	Cosmic Heart Compact The brooch that was given to Usagi in Act 24 which allows her to transform into Sailor Moon with "Moon Cosmic Power, Make Up!"
	Act 34	Crisis Moon Compact The Crisis Moon Compact allows Sailor Moon to transform into Super Sailor Moon with "Moon Crisis, Make Up!" It first appears in Act 34.
	Act 34	ChibiMoon Compact This is the brooch that Pegasus gives to ChibiUsa which allows her to transform into Super Sailor Moon. It appears first in Act 34.
	Act 42	Rainbow Moon Calice The Rainbow Moon Calice is the upgraded Holy Grail. With it, Usagi is able to transform into Eternal Sailor Moon. It first appears in Act 42.
