Luna in Human Form - Manga
Hair & Face | Jewelry & Accessories | Dress | Shoes/Feet

| In the manga, Luna becomes a human on three separate occasions. First, in Volume 11, when Super Sailor Moon uses the Holy Grail to allow her to become human for just one night, so that she can be with Kakeru. She transforms again in Volume 14, due to the power of the Ginzuishou, and finally in Volume 17, when the cats are attacked by Tin Nyanko. There are few black and white manga pictures of her in this form, and even fewer artbook pictures. She does appear in this form in the Materials Collection artbook, which provides valuable information about her outfit. | ![]() |

Hair & Face When in her human form, Luna's hair is shown to be worn in four small buns - two on each side of her head - with most of it down. The Materials Collection notes that "her bangs meet her eyes" and her hair is "the color of Luna's body (black, gray, purple)." While her hair appears to reach her knees, the Materials Collection says that "her hair length is uneven." It seems to be wavy and almost unkempt. In human form, her eyes always appear to be blue. The Materials Collection says that she has "cat eyes," and that, "to look at her, her age is about one year below Usagi's." Luna has a yellow crescent moon on her forehead. |

Jewelry & Accessories The most memorable accessory worn by Luna is the yellow ribbon given to her by Kakeru. She wears it in a bow around her neck. After her encounter with Kakeru in the "Lover of Princess Kaguya" special, she no longer wears this ribbon in her human form. Luna's earrings are golden crescent moons dangling by gold beads. These earrings can be easily made from beading supplies found in most craft stores. Luna wears a long crescent moon necklace that reaches her waist in the front. The crescent moon charm is held by a gold beaded chain. The beads on the chain consist of roughly 5-6 small beads interrupted by a larger bead at regular intervals. It is uncommon for Sailor Moon characters to wear anklets, but Luna is always pictured with one on her right foot. The beading appears to be similar to that of Luna's crescent moon necklace, but it includes crescent moon charms. |

Dress Luna's dress is made of a golden material that the Materials Collection calls "crescent-colored." The top of the dress is low cut in the front, with a rounded neck and thin straps. The entire "crescent-colored" part of the dress is one piece, with no seam from the skirt to the upper part. The dress seems to be made of a silky material. Where the straps meet the dress, there is "crumpled cloth that she wears as a flower." The Materials Collection states that this cloth is made of black organdy, and is on both sides on the front. This is easy to make by cutting a big of black organdy out and scrunching it together in the center. It can then be pinned directly onto the dress. Two larger "flowers" of black organdy can be seen on the back of the dress, in the small of Luna's back. The skirt has two layers: the top "crescent-colored" layer, and a black organdy layer underneath. The Materials Collection gives an excellent demonstration of how to create the look of the "crescent-colored" potion. First, cut a square of fabric. Next, cut a whole in the center. "Pass the body through the hole and wear that." The result will be a skirt like Luna's. Of course, it must still be hemmed to fit correctly. The black organdy portion of the skirt is very long in most artbook images, with a split in the front center to show of Luna's legs. In other black and white manga images, however, that portion is much shorter, barely showing underneath the "crescent-colored" part. |

Shoes/Feet The Materials Collection artbook makes a special note that Luna is barefoot. In all artbook images, she is shown to be barefoot. In Act 46 of the manga, however, Luna is shown to be wearing shoes. The shoes are high-heeled, open-toed sandals. The color of the shoes is never specifically stated, but can be understood the that color is black (based on the colors of her outfit and the dark ink used for the picture). |
