Original Design

Current Design 		The image on top is from the Materials Collection. It is an early drawing of what Naoko Takeuchi originally envisioned Sailor Mars's costume to be like. The image on bottom is from Artbook I. It is Sailor Mars's outfit as it was determined to permanently look, and as we see it today.

Differences:
  The Mask - Sailor Mars was originally supposed to wear a mask similar to Sailor V's and the one worn by Sailor Moon in early drawings.

  The Tiara - Originally proposed to be so elaborate!

  The Jewelry - Originally propposed to have a cute jewelled collar more like necklace than a band with the Mars symbol on it. It matched her bracelet and ring, which were done away with later.

  The Outfit - Lots of differences here! Originally, it was proposed to look somewhat like armour (in my opinion), particularly the shoulderguards. It was in two pieces with the top coming down in a V at the bottom, and the bottom with a straight waist (as opposed to a V waist). It also was originally proposed to have two stripes on the collar, but later developed with three. As we all know, Sailor Mars's uniform was changed to permanently look like Sailor Moon's, and all of the other senshi's.

  Bows - The front bow was originally proposed to look quite different from the bow we usually see - the loops are higher, and the tails are looser. Also, instead of a brooch, she has a Mars symbol in the middle. Her back bow was originally absent, but later included as a red bow similar to those of the other senshi.

  Gloves - No gloves! But they were later added, similar to those worn by the other senshi.
